unPAved Adventures

In the spirit of adventure this august you can ride the unPAved region at a more casual pace.  There will be two options to get out on your bike, put the every day world aside, meet new friends, make some memories. We hope you will join us for a weekend.

UNPAVED BIG LICK BIKE PACKING ADVENTURE

AUGUST 9-12

This 4-day, 3-night bike packing camp will break down the new Big Lick 200 course into 4 days. This is a great opportunity to try bike packing 101-style. We will carry your food, you carry your gear.

We will begin and end the trip at the Rusty Rail Brewery in Mifflinburg

  • Each day will be between 40 and 60 miles
  • Two nights we will stop at State Park Campgrounds
  • Two nights we will stop at remote camps

      • NOTE: there will be multiple stops during the day for snacks, photos, and chatting. We will stick together and the breaks will be spontaneous. It’s all part of the adventure.
      • NOTE: the route will occasionally go near a town or store. These will be opportunities to get some “real food”.

What to Bring

A complete list of recommended bike packing gear will be emailed with your entry.

Plan to carry your water and food for the day, change of clothes, and sleeping gear. We will carry the rest.

Route

The exact route will be provided to participants upon registration. The exact route may differ from the Big Lick 200 to connect with camping spots.

Expect to ride between 40 and 60 miles and approximately 4000 -5000 ft of climbing each day.

Lodging

We will be staying a three different state parks during this tour. Each park has showers, bathrooms, and amazing scenery.

UNPAVED 3 DAY SLUMBER PARTY ADVENTURE

AUGUST 16-18

This 3-day two-night camp will break down the full unPAved course into 3 easy-to-manage sections.

We will begin and end the trip at the Rusty Rail Brewery in Mifflinburg

  • Day One:  Conquer the Jones Mountain Climb as you make your way to RB Winter State park.
  • Day Two: Enjoy the best 30-mile loop around. We call it the Burly 30, cause it may sound short, but it is no picnic in the park.
  • Day Three: Roll Back to the Brewery using either the 90 finish or the 120 finish for a big final day

Or…join us for a day. Meet at RB Winter and get an abbreviated training camp.

What to Bring

Suggested Supply List

  • Gravel Bike in working order with tubeless tires
  • Cycling Computer
  • Minimum of two liter water bottles
  • Spare tubes
  • Change of clothes for two nights
  • Tent
  • Sleeping bag and pad
  • Lamp/Light for night
  • Camp Chair ( does not need to fit in tote)
  • Food to cook for Dinner ( 2 nights)

We will transport 1 box or bag per participant.

  • They must be secured with a strap and labeled with your bib name, last name, and assigned campsite.
  • You must deliver your bag to the Slumber Party Trailer at the Miller Center between 9 am and noon.
  • Your bag will arrive by 2:30 to your campsite
  • On Sunday you must drop your bag/box to the designated collection site ( 1)  by 9 am.
  • You bag will arrive back to the Miller Center by 1 PM
  • You may drop a tote no larger than 27 GAL.  ( 28×15) with a hard top

  • Option 1 -60 Mile on the 120 Course to Rusty rail
  • Option 2 – 40 Miles on the 90 Alt Course to Rusty rail

Lodging

CAMP LODGING AT RB WINTER

RB Winter State Park, nestled tight in the northeast corner of the Bald Eagle State Forest, just off of State Rte. 192. We have reserved 18 campsites that hold 5 people each. Facilities include hot showers, hiking trail, telephone, restrooms, trash, water, electricity, tables, and shade.

You will share a campsite with 4 other CAMPERS. Cause it’s fun to make friends.
