A lot of thought went into the racer logistics for this event. We want getting to and from the event venue to be as painless as possible. Weather you are local or traveling across the world, here are some tips for a smooth race weekend.
Getting to Iceland
Flying to Iceland
Icelandair is the major airline that travels to Iceland from most US and EU locations. You can purchase bike luggage for an additional fee.
Other airlines that fly to Iceland include Play, Air Canada, British Airways, and others. See the complete list.
You will be flying into Keflavik International and need ground transportation to get to the capital city of Reykjavik.
Bus Transport – Two bus companies have regular interval trips between Keflavik Airport and downtown Reykjavik. They both offer bike transport with your ticket. In many cases, you can purchase your transport on your flight and avoid the line. Make sure to specify your exact destination so the company can supply all the necessary transfers to get you to your lodging door.
Renting a Car – There are many rental car companies to choose from in Iceland. As at any airport, there are some to avoid. They are off-brands. We are working on a preferred list and will update this page as soon as there is more information.
Getting to Around Town
Bus Transport – Reykjavik has a great public bus system.
Taxi’s – There are many taxi companies to choose from in Iceland. We recommend saving this number +345 588 5522 for Hreyfill Taxi. You can order a car with a bike rack if needed. They also have an app to order a taxi.
There is also a taxi app
Parking Downtown – Most parking downtown is metered. Get the app EASY PARK to pay for parking. It is easier than using a credit card.
Scooter Rental – in case you are tired of riding your bike. Get this app to rent a scooter.
