About the HRing

Of course, all of this is subject to change and could be edited dramatically. It’s our working plan and updates will be communicated as they happen.

This event is created in the style of a 24-hour race, except instead of racing a relay for the entire day, you choose the start time and amount of laps you want to race. Why a 24-hour race you ask?

  • Base Stop areas for gathering and support. Park and even camp at the Base Camp Venue. Riders travel through a transition zone each lap, with the opportunity to “stop the clock”, while enjoying a mid-race snack, beer, or hug.
  • Create a party atmosphere. You wont find yourself along on a long road in the middle of no where. There will always be someone new around the corner.
  • Is spectator friendly. Friends and family can come and watch to cheer on riders and enjoy the food and music during the day.

RACE LIMITS AND CATEGORIES

  • 225 TOTAL PARTICIPANTS for the HRing .  The course is a 43 K Loop, you choose your degree of suffering vs fun.
    • 40% of the spots are reserved for local Icelandic racers with a local’s discount. Request Here  This is important to GRO and the event.  If you are local Icelandic and race year 1, then you have a priority spot the next year, etc.

    • 50 PARTICIPANTS for the Sufferfest!
    • 70 PARTICIPANTS for the Gritfest!
    • 70 PARTICIPANTS for the Gravel Trek!

RACE NUTRITION

    • In a lap race, each rider should plan their own nutrition and support to get them through.
    • There are three places on the course where you can rest and refuel
      • At Base Camp, you can bring a cooler with food and a friend to support you. There will be use of a grill to prepare meat.
      • At the Support House, you can send a “Special Needs Bag” with warm clothes, extra hydration, and pre-packaged race food
