Secreto Gravel

This is a challenging endurance ride that can be completed on a gravel bike or a traditional mountain bike. The course starts with a very punchy climb. Many of you will have to walk at the start. The first decent is fast and loose and will require good handling skills. Once you are past the first 4 miles you will enjoy rolling terrain as you travel through several small villages in the Guanacaste region of Costa Rica.  After the second town, Sardinal,  the course becomes remote, with more climbing until you reach Pilas, where you can take a break and dip into the fresh pools or just take a photo of the waterfall.  Following Pilas you will experience some steep climbs, before your get to overlook the Tempate valley. Take it in and then hold on as you descend to the town. Tempate and Categena will provide a taste of village life.  If you choose to take the longer route, we promise it will be worth it.

The full course is 50 Miles/80 K. There is also an option to take a short course by turning at Tempate. This route is 35 miles/57 K. As you travel through each town, you will be treated to warm Costa Rican hospitality, which will include music, food, and sharing of the local culture.
